House Profile: Aesir

Aesir of Europe West has come a long way since the closed beta, and is now at the heart of a powerful alliance. House founder Gormrik reveals some of the secrets behind the group’s success. 

HOW DID YOU FIRST FIND OUT ABOUT CONQUEROR’S BLADE AND WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE GAME?

I was looking for something similar [to another game I was playing] and it caught my eye on YouTube. After waiting for some time I forgot about the game, but when it caught my eye again this year it revealed something completely different and amazing: the whole open world aspect. I fell in love with it immediately.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO SET UP A HOUSE?

The Aesir community (AOC Gaming) has been part of me since 2009 and we set up a house to show what we can bring to the table in yet another MMO. We feel like this game has so much to offer both in diplomacy and in-game actions, which is exactly what we are looking for. One of my favourite games of all time is Darkfall: and even though the two games are so different they are so similar. 

WHAT MAKES AESIR DIFFERENT?

Aesir isn't just a house in Conquerors blade but a gaming community (AOC Gaming) that has been in every major MMO. Our community involves every member in activities, events and we even have summer and winter meetups. 

When it comes to the house and the game we are very relaxed and calm, but when it comes down to it we become very serious and competitive. I like that every member has a vote and is free to talk about what needs improvement and what we can do better.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE SECRET OF YOUR SUCCESS SO FAR? 

I would say the [main] success is in diplomacy. But also that our members have done some outstanding work taking and holding land. Our core membership, together with newcomers, has become a united force that is working well together and can crush any foe. 

WHAT DOES THE HOUSE HOPE TO ACHIEVE - WHAT WILL BE ITS LEGACY IN YEARS TO COME?

Our house isn't here for peace and quiet. We aren't just going to sit on a castle far, far away milking our cows and drinking mead all day (although that isn't actually a bad idea)! We’re here to be known and to show what we have done in other MMOs. We are here to fight the big bad wolves that try to conquer the world, while showing what a truly experienced and organised force can do to the zergs out there. 

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE CLASS TO PLAY AS AND WHY?

I started off playing Glaive but ended up loving the Longsword & Shield. It works great for the playstyle I have as it keeps me protected when shouting out orders. I am a leader that does a lot of impulsive moves and strategy in combat, so the extra armour it gives me makes it ideal for me. I can watch the battle evolve.

WHAT ACTIVITIES DOES THE HOUSE REGULARLY ENGAGE IN?

The house is a PvP-focused house. We take part in daily events such as raiding, Territory Wars and will take part in tournaments in time. That doesn't mean we don't do PvE  - a house needs to focus on every aspect of the game to be able to climb to the top, but PvP is our main focus

WHO ARE YOUR MOST TRUSTED WARLORDS?

As cliched as it sounds, every member, whether they’re an officer, core member or new recruit, are all equally important for the house. Everyone has helped out and brought the house to where it stands today. However, some special shoutouts must go to our second-in-command Gready and Mytholox that have been doing enormous work behind the scenes.

IF SOMEONE WANTED TO JOIN YOUR HOUSE OR START A DIALOGUE TOWARDS TRADE OR ESTABLISHING A PACT, WHAT SHOULD THEY DO?

They could join our discord and PM one of the officers or myself.

ARE THERE OTHER HOUSES THAT YOU ADMIRE OR THAT YOU CONSIDER TO BE NATURAL ALLIES?

Ragnarok alliance (that was formed together with Stormur) has been a huge success that has stayed on the leaderboards since the start of open beta. Our newest members, Silverbacks and Puremindgamers, have also done a great job with forming Asgard alliance. Together we excel in communication and combat and I can recommend any of these guilds!

CONVERSELY, ARE THEY ARE ANY HOUSES THAT YOU'D CONSIDER MORTAL ENEMIES?

An alliance that we are constantly at war with is Imperium, they have been tough to beat and we had some great and close fights with them. But sooner or later they will bend the knee to the Northmen!
