When we last left our story of Longting and its legends, the Cudgel Monks had appeared to aid the Emperor, and these spiritual warriors would soon play a part in the shaping of the Qian Dynasty.

Affluence prospered in the decade between the founding of the Qian Dynasty and its conquest of Maoyang (a core fief of Longting), and soon troops would be sent further west to begin construction on the Golden Road, opening up the region to the wider world. Beginning in the capital city Hao Jing and crossing through the Borderlands, treasures abound flowed in and out of the region thanks to this glorious merchant pathway.

However, this was not without its obstacles. The Borderlands fell into anarchy when exotic goods began to be imported, and protectors of the realm were appointed to keep the peace. Keeping a watchful eye (and a stowed weapon or two) over proceedings was the Modao Battalion, staunch and disciplined warriors. The Cudgel Monks contributed too, silently observing the hills, lest trouble erupt.

This was not all the Emperor of Qian did, though. A fort was erected in the desert to deter troublemakers and marauders who sought fortune through more criminal means, and the legendary Linwu Fortress was built...
