Halberdiers have tended to be seen as underwhelming when compared to Spear Sergeants. However, with the ability to now transform the unit into Landsknechts as part of Season VI: Scourge of Winter, the Promoted Unit not only boasts commendable defensive attributes, it has an arsenal of attack-minded Traits and Orders to ensure it worthy of inclusion in any warband.
Unlocking
You first need a unit of Halberdiers to promote. You will receive one after completing the first stage of Season VI unit challenges. After Stage Two you will receive Halberdiers Promotion Privilege, which will allow you to promote your Halberdiers to a unit of Landsknechts. The new unit will carry over all Unit XP, its level and doctrines, while Veterency Points will be returned. You can read more about Promoted Units here.

Gameplay
As with many Promoted Units, Landsknechts offer only a marginal improvement on its base unit in terms of stats, but this isn’t to be overlooked when those improvements are across the board. What distinguishes Landsknechts above Halberdiers are its ranges of Traits and Orders, which extend its offensive options with a Battle Charge, Quick Strikes and a Stab and Hook Order than inflicts bleeding damage.
Progression
Landsknechts have a maximum unit level of 18, with Veterancy Points investable across two branches. Both extend the unit’s attacking attributes in different ways: The top branch offers more attacking options, such as by unlocking the Wedge formation, while the lower branch allows improvements to the units damage-dealing attributes.
