If you’ve ever been ambushed behind enemy lines, wishing your units could quickly come to your aid, you’ll likely want to prioritise unlocking the third unit released as part of Season IV: Blood of the Empire.
Steadfast and loyal, the Silahdars are a purebred bodyguard unit. Trained to protect their leader at all costs, they will quickly rally to their position when called to from across the battlefield. If you’re a lone wolf player, or prefer ranged weapons to those of the front line, having a unit of Silahdars at your back could make all the difference.
Unlocking
As with all seasonal units, you must first earn the right to command Silahdars; first by unlocking Azaps (or Sipahis), then by completing a series of challenges, divided across six stages. You will be able to command a unit of Silahdars temporarily after completing Stage 1, which will become permanently yours after Stage 4 (along with any XP the unit may have earnt along the way).

Gameplay
A potent unit in almost any situation thanks to decent armour and damage potential, Silahdars come into their own when fighting alongside their leader, enjoying a bonus when in close proximity to them and taking 10% less damage when under orders. If ever you find yourself in a tricky situation, issue the Get Over Here order and your Silahdars will stop whatever they’re doing - even if engaged in combat - and rush to help you. Between the Ingenious Armour trait (resistance to ranged weapons) and the mobile Cover Commander formation, they’ll certainly make sure you stay in the fight for longer!
Progression
Silahdars have a maximum level of 30, which gives you up to 29 Veterancy Points to invest across two branches. The top is broadly focused on offence, with a possible 12% boost to Slashing Damage and improvements to the effectiveness of your Decapitate unit order. The lower branch is more focused on defence, with a total health boost of up to 18% nestled among bonuses to slashing, piercing, and ranged defence.
