Hogmanay has come and gone, and as we venture further into the new year, we mustn’t forget another special day for Scotland—Burns Night! Read on to learn more about this special occasion, and to claim an exclusive free gift from MY.GAMES Market.

While not officially observed as a national holiday, the life and works of poet Robert Burns are celebrated on his birthday, January 25, with staple Scottish foods, parties, and tributes made to the great bard. Some of his most famous work includes Tam O’ Shanter, Auld Lang Syne, and A Red, Red Rose, invoking themes of empathy, encouragement, and everyday life. Modern Scots still adore his poems and songs for their universal themes like love, life, and a bit of humour for good measure.

The very first Burns Night was held by his friends on the fifth anniversary of his death in 1801, with a feast and performances of his brilliant works made to honour his life and cultural contributions.

Traditional Scottish dishes and delicacies are consumed as part of a Burns Night meal, including haggis, neeps and tatties, and of course, a few slugs of whisky. As the evening goes on, his poems are recited, toasts given, and to end the night, Auld Lang Syne is sung by all the guests with crossed arms and joined hands.

You can celebrate Burns Night in Conqueror’s Blade with a free gift, available to claim via MY.GAMES Market until February 1 (23:59 CET)!
